I Stand In Front Of You, The Brooch - Silver Clay Jewellery Workshop

Why not come and join the team for this exclusive workshop day as we recreate Richard’s popular brooch, ‘I Stand In Front Of You’.

Taken from the collection "Protection 2 - Think Outside The Blocks", Richard and Lesley will guide you through all the processes to make this amazing piece of wearable art.

Duration 6 hours: 10-4.30pm with 30 minute lunch break

Skill level - beginner/intermediate.  Some basic knowledge of working with silver clay is useful but not essential.

The session will guide you through every stage of making this outstanding brooch first showcased at The Forge Gallery, Hatton Garden, London in September 2024 and then again in October 2025.

You will be first shown how to plan your project, modify the look to your own design and choose your texture.  From there you will set up your workstation and prepare the tools you will need.

Once you have made and refined your components, Richard will guide you through the assembly process ensuring everything is secure.   At this stage, Lesley will now explain the process for measuring, alaigning and attaching your 'fire in place' brooch pin mounts.

Whilst the pieces are in the kiln firing, we will have lunch (outside if the weather is fine).

Our fired pieces will now be cleaned, refined and prepared for the next stage - the gold fusing, commonly known as Keum Boo.  Keum Boo is the ancient Korean art of fusing gold by blending hot silver and gold over heat.  For this, you will be using 24ct gold.

We will do some further polishing and finishing before Lesley takes you through the process of measuring, cutting and securely attaching your brooch pin.  And, with one last polish, your new brooch will be ready to wear.

All tools, materials are provided including the silver clay, the 24ct gold and your sterling silver embeddable brooch pin.  There is no need to bring anything with you unless you have favourite tools you like to use.

Sessions are limited to 5 people so that everyone gets our full attention.
